Subject: [SOG-UK-L] Birth Registration District
Date: Wed, 4 Aug 1999 04:22:36 -0400
The following appeared in the CompuServe Genealogy Forum and I wondered if
anyone here could help:
>>I have a certified copy of birth reg which gives the following info:
Registration District: Ormskirk
Sub-district: Formby
in the "Counties of Southport CB&C"
The part in quotes was handwritten. Can anyone explain to me why this
doesn't say in the "County of Lancaster?" The child was born in Southport.
<<
It is one of those strange things like "The County of Southhampton" (which
once was)? And what does the CB & C mean?
I will pass any replies on to her.
