Thank you for your comments - silly me using the word <ancestor> when you
rightly state she was a <relative>. I have a great deal of research matter
on the LIBERTY family and am aware of the family tree back to William
LIBERTY marrying Martha DEAMER on 29 May 1632 at Kensworth, Beds.
Actually I have just, today, discovered Arthur and Emma on the 1881 Census
recorded as SIBERLY living at 7 Fairfax Road, Hampstead, London - which had
been the home of Emma's parents. Does that beat the mangling of TYRWHITT??
Whilst on the LIBERTY subject there is another query which I, nor other
LIBERTY researchers, seem to have solved:
On 8 Jun 1865 Arthur married a Martha COTTAM (daughter of William COTTAM,
Gentleman) at Old Church St Pancras, Middlesex. Both were described as
living at St Mark, City Road, Pancras.
Ten years later on 25 Sep 1875 Arthur married Emma Louise BLACKMORE at All
Souls, South Hampstead, Middlesex and in the Marriage entry he is described
as <bachelor>!! There is no trace of the death of Martha LIBERTY/COTTAM or
a Decree Absolute between 1865/1875 and no Martha on the 1881 Census
either!! I'm told that legally he could only describe himself as a
<bachelor> if the marriage had been declared voidable, as opposed to void,
but this should be recorded somewhere. Any comments?
