For myself, I'm disappointed that the Family Boxes are all hidden in the
basement, and that you can't access them youself, but have to request a
surname from a foreign girl who can't understand the name you are asking
for, and has no conception of surname variants, while she rummages
through the box. Very frustrating. Moreover, she appears to have little
geographical knowledge of the country, and while trying to be helpful,
she has to have much explained to her.
And I find the space between shelves too narrow, and think it unfortunate
that they are blocked at the window end, so that you can't "claim" one
table, and then go wandering from county to county, without walking quite
some distance with a cache of books. And you still have to avoid those
leaning on step-ladders and sitting on those wheeley things.
Oh, yes! And what with Bernau's now being on microfilm without easy to
identify indexes, I found my last visit quite a tough experience compared
with my usual bliss.
But the Gate cafe still does a hearty bacon-and-egg brekky!
