Tim, if I knew for a fact one had, I'd be the first to go lurking about the
graveyard with only the moon and a trowel for company! But my lot were/are
very private and retiring so I doubt very much the existence of any diary.
I think the best surviving accounts would be those kept as memories and
stories by his 'other' descendants, none of which, except for the lady
mentioned, I've managed to trace. Yet.
Do you find that knowing your story is still a bit of a dangerous thing? I
daren't repeat mine too carelessly in conversation - it is surprising how
many locals would still get quite upset by having this old wound prodded.
