My thanks to Derrick Porter, Wilfred Gathercole and Alan Merryweather.
Between them they have provided a possible solution. The "(HOE:Lts)" could
refer to instructions given to the mason, i.e Headstone with Old English
Letters, and this has accidentally been inscribed on the stone. I like it.
