Thank you, Barney, and everyone else who replied to my query.
I had been looking in the 1891 census in the Kennington area, without
success. I have now succeeded in finding the Chaplin family (Hannah, Sydney
and Charles) living in Barlow Street, Walworth (a side street off East
Street) - no trace of my grandfather's family, though.
I know where grandfather lived in 1881 and from 1894 onwards, so I'll have to
find some other way of filling the gap between those years. Any ideas, anyone?
