The best time for an AGM depends on whether you work and where and how
amenable your managers are to odd days off. I think any time will always be
inconvenient for some. At least a June AGM means that the meeting begins in
daylight and, unless it is hi-jacked verbally and lasts more than two hours,
should finish in daylight for those nervous about travelling in central
London. Although in 12 years of using public transport between 7.00pm (when
I often finish work) and until midnight after social activities, I have
rarely seen problems and those I do are after closing time and alcohol is a
contributor. Central London with the large number of people around is
relatively safe if you use common sense.

All our Committee Meetings are in the evenings and have been for the past
15 years that I have been on the various SoG Committees and I am still here
to tell the tale!

Yes, Jeanne, you are. But London crime is on the increase, and Pat has a
fair point.
How come the A.G.M. is always in the evening? The SoG's status as a
company has been stressed by the executive committee, but a lot of British
companies have their A.G.M. during the day. If the SoG did that, wouldn't
there be more time for discussion, as well as it being generally more
convenient for people to attend?
Best wishes,
John Townsend
