As one of my varied volunteer tasks has been to be a member of the
Society's Membership Drive Working Party (before anyone asks it is a
properly constituted WP of the Executive Committee). To identify possible
avenues for targeted promotion of the Society to new market sectors I did
some fairly rough and ready analysis of the county (pre 1972) and postcode
fields (a minefield unless you pay £££ for the software to map these to
real places!!) of the Membership database as it was about July 2001 The
resulting data was used in deciding some opportunities to promote the society.
BTW - I did not have details of members names or any other personal
information collected by the Society and recorded under its DP registration.
Also - if you have missed out somehow - I am a member of the Executive &
Publications Committees, the Webmaster etc and co-ordinator of the IT
Strategy and Support Working Party (although Support tasks occupy most of
the limited resources available)
