But it is a question of cost. Your costumers may lose big business if
their links fail, as would have been the case with my employers when I
worked for them. Backups are essential for commercially sensitive
operations.
With S.O.G. there certainly was a crisis; I know that appeals were being
made for money to sponsor book purchases as no budget had been givien for
that; I even responded to those appeals. So if S.O.G. could not afford
to buy books, can it afford to buy backups to communication systems?
Personally I would prefer the purchase of a few more books: the old
out-of-copyright ones could even generate income by copying them to
CDROMs for sale. And I wonder what has happened to the very interesting
offer that Rod Neep made here a month or so back?
