In a last will and testament I have here, trying to decipher the
handwriting back in 1816, the phrase recurs "and I give and devise
my zzzz to my said wife zzzz". Am I anywhere the mark with the term
"devise", please? It's definitely not "bequeath" but could be
"direct" at the stretch of imagination. Any thoughts most welcomed.
