Yes, I have tried the GLO Rootsweb and local knowledge tells me that they
have been unable to find Ernest Carter's birth details in Cheltenham for
1828/30. He presumably trained under his father, also a surgeon/dentist, as
there were no formal qualifications for a dentist at that time. Ernest
Carter arrived in Australia in 1852 and all his relevant documents here
state that he was born in Cheltenham. From these documents I've estimated
his birth date as 1828/30, so he was a young man when he arrived on our
shores. Seems strange that all four siblings state that they were born in
Cheltenham, yet none of their details can be found there!
