For years ending in a 5, 10% of the log books are at TNA(Kew) mostly in
series BT99 and the other 90% are at the NMM. These include fishing boat at
that date. These documents are arranged by the ship's official number.
In BT 334, Deaths cover 1891-1964 and record:
* name of ship, official number, port of registry and trade
* date, place and cause of death,
* name of deceased, sex, age, rating [for seamen, an * indicates an Asiatic
serving under an Asiatic Agreement], rank or profession or occupation [for
non-seamen]
* nationality or birthplace, last place of abode
Note: deaths of current and former crew members taking place ashore, for
instance in hospital, were required to be recorded wherever possible in
addition to those that occurred actually at sea.
