Phil,

It is quite possible that she was a member of the Queen Alexandra's Royal
Army Nursing Corps. They were founded in 1902 and the name remained the same
until 1949.

There are records for these people, but mostly for anyone who was
commissioned i.e. had an official army officer rank.

Two places to start:
1. The National Archives at Kew. Where you can see the Army List. (for
officers).

2. You may get help from the museum of the Royal Army Medical Corps whose
address is:
The Royal Army Medical Corps Historical Museum, Keogh Barracks, Ash Vale,
Aldershot, Hampshire GU11 5RQ

You could also try The Royal College of Nursing who have their records in
Edinburgh. They have an email address Always very helpful
people. Their telephone number is 0131 662 1010

Hope this helps

Peter
