Subject: Qualification periods for medical doctor
Date: Wed, 8 Dec 2004 21:50:41 -0000
Anyone know of any source(s) that tells me how long it took to get various
professional qualifications at various times in history?
I'm particularly interested in how long it took to qualify as a medical
doctor in the 1930s.
My great uncle Robert Bruce is down in the Medical Register as "Date of
Registration - Feb 13, 1935" and Qualifications of MRCS (1935) & LRCP (1935)
(MRCS - Member of Royal College of Surgeons, LRCP - Licentiate of Royal
College of Physicians). This would have made him nearly 36 at the time of
qualification, which seems a bit old, even taking a year or two out for WW1,
but I really don't know because I've no concept of how long it took to get
that far....
Grateful for any thoughts!
Adrian Bruce
