The Younkin Reunion - East
July 24, 25, 26 at Kingwood, PA
The Younkin, Youngkin, et var, family originally immigrated and settled in
Bucks County, PA, in the mid-1700s. Several of the first generation of
descendants of the immigrant brothers migrated to Somerset County PA where
many of their descendants still live today.
This is your "personal" invitation to the Younkin (Youngkin, et var)
Reunion East to be held in KINGWOOD, SOMERSET CO, PA ..... All cousins and
genealogists interested in the Younkin or allied families are invited to
attend!

Friday, July 24
For overnight accomodations, make your reservatons at the Somerset Ramada
Inn,, call 814-443-4646 (the Ramada does have an indoor pool, so don't
forget your swimsuit) we have a number of rooms reserved for the Reunion.
4 pm: REGISTRATION & HOSPITALITY - we have reserved a Hospitality Suite at
the Ramada for Friday evening (check at the front desk as to the location).
Please come anytime from 4 pm on throughout the evening. You don't need to
be staying at the Ramada to join us - everyone is welcome!
Saturday, July 25
10 am - 12 Noon: Meet at the Kingwood IOOF Picnic Grove (about 13 miles
south of Somerset along Route 281) if you would like to help set up the
Grove for the day's activities or would like to attend a family history
tour. We have not officially scheduled a tour this year but anyone wishing
to see some of the historic family sites should check yes on the reunion
form as we do have volunteers ready to take you around. There is plenty of
seating but you might want to bring a nice comfortable lawn chair. If you
have family memoribilia, photos, old letters, Family Bibles, etc. please
bring those to share with everyone.
12 - 12:30 pm: Set up for afternoon meal
12:30 pm: Lunch - Pot Luck: please bring a covered dish, side dish, rolls
or dessert. If you live in the immediate area suggestions would be ham,
turkey, meatloaf, pasta dish, salad, beans. Or you might choose rolls,
bread, cakes or cookies especially if you are coming a farther distance.
We have electric outlets available for crockpots as well as refrigerators
for cold items. Plates, utensils, coffee and drinks will be provided.
1:45 - 2 pm: Clean up, pass the hat to cover the expenses of the Grove
rental, postage and new treasury to be explained at the 4 pm business
meeting.
2:15 pm: Family Group Picture
2:30 - 3 pm: Games and socialize - meet your cousins!
3 pm: Civil War Re-enactment - Everett Sechler's Civil War Re-enactment
group will provide us wih a taste of that era's history!
4:00 pm: Business Meeting - We've decided to make it official! This year
we will be electing a slate of officers to serve our family organization.
If you would be interested in serving as an officer or volunteer for a

5 pm: Bonfire - this year will be the first for this event. At 5 pm we
will light a bonfire and will have our evening events around it. Between
5: 30 and 6 pm we will set up for supper with leftovers from lunch.
Hotdogs, condiments, marshmallows, chocolate and graham crackers will be
provided. Please bring a package of buns if you plan to attend. We will
have singing, music and scripture to close the evening. Evenings in the
hills of Somerset can be cool, remember to bring a sweatshirt or sweater!
Sunday, July 26
8 am: If you would be interested in joining the Sunday morning breakfast
at the Ramada, please let us know.
