Hello Mary & All,
>>> Glaring headlines in our local paper this morning are "Securing your
identity" appearing in the Tulsa World, Tulsa, OK. They are on line and
the article could probably be read in its entirety. Bottom line of story
is how a Laguna Niguel, Calif., attorney had her identity stolen and was
charged up with a Mustang Convertible and over $50,000 in debts. One of
the ways this is done is by Family Trees that are put on line with our
name, maiden name, birth etc. enabling the thief to know all he needs to
know.<<<
FYI;
There are numerous programs that will strip out all information on the
living individuals in your tree, while leaving their names & relationships
intact. You can use any of the massive file repositories to search for
these programs, such as;
http://www.hotfiles.com/
http://filepile.com/nc/start
http://www.shareware.com/
http://www.download.com/?st.sw.ftr.but.dl
http://www.surnames.com/organizations/agcig/shareware/default2.htm
At this last address the program is GedClean & it's freeware.
Regards,
Jo
