Gerald & other PENROD searchers....

I have a copy of the interments in the plot at Grandview Cemetery in the
names of James D. PENROD and Abner GRIFFITH. There is a notation of the lot
number, etc. but it's badly blurred and I can't make it out - appears to be
41? and then a 53? At any rate, I got a copy of the plot just by requesting
the Abner GRIFFITH name, so apparently there's not a problem of locating the
records. Here's what is written....

There are 8 graves in this plot, and they are:

"Mrs. Mary GRIFFITH
April 25th 1891"

This is Mary Reighart GRIFFITH b 24 Aug 1810 Somerset, PA d 23 Apr 1891
Stonycreek Twp., Cambria, PA bur 25 Apr 1891. [Note that the date on these
records reflect the interment date, rather than the burial date.] Mary was
the daughter of William REIGHART.

"Abner GRIFFITH
April 18th 1900"

Abner GRIFFITH was b 26 Sep 1814 on his Father's farm in Somerset, PA d 16
Apr 1900 Stonycreek, Cambria, PA, bur 18 Apr 1900. Abner was the son of
Abner and Mary Owen GRIFFITH.

"Mrs. E. P. DITZLER
April 28th 1892"

This is Ann Eliza GRIFFITH b 16 Oct 1846 Cambria, PA d 31 Mar 1876 East
Liberty, Allegheny, PA and bur 28 Apr 1892. [Notation from the obit in the
Cambria Tribune of 31 Mar 1876 reads: "Died in East Liberty at noon today,
Annie E., wife of Mr. E.P. DITZLER and daughter of Abner GRIFFITH of
Stonycreek Twp., aged 30 years. Remains were brought by train for interment
from the M.E. Church at the corner of Franklin and Locust Streets."]

"E. P. DITZLER
April 28th 1892"

Edward P. DITZLER - I do not know any additional information about Edward
DITZLER other than he was interred on the same date as his wife at
Grandview.

"Marilla PENROD
Jany 1 1929"

Marietta Morilla GRIFFITH b 10 Jul 1848 Somerset, PA d Dec 1928 bur Jan 1,
1929. She was the daughter of Abner and Mary Reighart GRIFFITH. She m 22
Oct 1874 at Johnstown, Cambria, PA James D. PENROD.

April 29th 1912"

James D. PENROD b 8 Mar 1847 Somerset, PA d Apr 1912, bur 29 Apr 1912. He
was the son of Isaac PENROD and Susanna SHORLEY [?].

.....Gerald, I was wrong about Isaac being buried at Grandview :(. I was
looking at James D's son's notes and transcribed that *he* was buried with
his father....I do not have information on where these folks are buried,
however, I will call for more records at Grandview. I would very much like
info. on Susanna, as I'm not even certain of the surname?

Edgar James PENROD b 1873 Johnstown, Cambria, PA d 1928 m Zelpha JONES,
daughter of E. Lee and Lula Cohran JONES. He was the son of James D. and
Morilla Griffith PENROD.

"Infant of James D. PENROD
April 28, 1892"

Since I do not know any information re: James D. PENROD, Jr. b 1877, I don't
know if this may be he who died as an infant, or if it is another child.
The interment date is the same as the ones for the DITZLERs, and I suspect
that this burial might have been at another location and transferred to
Grandview at the time of other family members being brought there. I have
several family members whose relatives bought plots in Grandview and moved
deceased family members [or, in most cases, just the stones] from
Sandyvale Cemetery which was ruined by the flood in 1889. Other members
of these extended families were in Sandyvale Cemetery.

Does anyone have DITZLER information?
