Besides the Shipping Lists Pam listed, there are a couple others worth
noting. If you are doing any research on ancestors that were of English,
Irish or Scottish descent, then try American Plantations and Colonies
at:
http://www.primenet.com/~langford/gen_page.htm
Cyndi's has almost all the good ones listed but it's hard to pick the
good out of the bad. Along with those already discussed I have gotten
the most out of Olive Tree's lists which again is a compilation but
pretty comprehensive especially of the Palatinate arrivals. It can be
found at:
http://www.rootsweb.com/~ote/indexshp.htm
Rootsweb is also compiling transcribed Shipping lists with a good
representation of all ships including a searchable database. It can be
found at:
http://istg.rootsweb.com/
There are many lists available and I have checked out most of them. The
ones Pam listed and the above seem to include all the ships transcribed
so far. The others are mostly repeats. There seems to be a deficit in
ships arriving in Canada. A lot of people arrived there, including some
who made there way to Somerset Co., but the sites that specify having
lists of passengers arriving in Canada are very slim.
The rootsweb transcription project is very ambitious and as time goes
on, should cover all the ships and lists known. I would bookmark that
list as it will eventually be the most comprehensive.
