Hi all,
I'm seeking a marriage record for Ward Emanuel Davis. He is my g
grandfather and was born and died in Bedford Co. but his brother Andrew
Curtin Davis's obit says Ward was living in Windber in 1915. And according to
a 1904 Somerset business index, he was a barber in Scalp Level, which I was
told is in Cambria Co.
His first marriage was to my g grandmother Mary Jane Nycum of Bedford
Co. My grandmother, their only child Bertha Virginia (Davis) Edelman, told
me when I was a child that her father was a barber in Bedford and he ran off
and left them. She never said there was a divorce and I can't find any record
of one, but it appears he was married twice after he left them.
I don't know the name, date or place of his second marriage or if they
had any children. But I have his third marriage application and license. On
it he reported that his first wife, who was my g grandmother, died in 1901
but that's not true. She did not die until 1931.
He also reported his second wife died April 23, 1928. He may have
married her in Somerset or Cambria Co. after 1901.
By 1929 Ward in was back in Bedford Co. marrying his third wife.
If anyone has or has seen a referece to Ward Emanuel Davis and/or wife
between 1901 and 1928 please contact me.
