Calvin B. Zener Sr., 75, 76 Old Hill Road, Tylersville, died
Sunday, Oct. 12, 2003 in the Lock Haven Hospital.
He was born June 18, 1928 in Indiana, a son of the late Kenneth M.
Zener Sr. and Sarah Kathryn Fleming Zener.
On May 10, 1958 in Lock Haven, he married his wife of 45 years, the
former Roma Lillian Merrill, who survives.
He was employed by Piper Aircraft as a welder. He left Piper for
nine years to serve in the United States Navy as a boilerman on the
U.S.S. Allagash from 1948 to 1957. He then returned to Piper where he
worked until the closing of the company. He retired in 1995 as an aide at
the Laurelton Hospital.
Mr. Zener was a member of St. John’s United Church of Christ in
Tylersville. He was also a member of the National Rifle Association and
was an avid hunter and fisherman.
In addition to his wife, he is also survived by five daughters,
Debora Peters and her husband, Jerry, of Loganton, Brenda Cline of
Tylersville, Tina Schauer and her husband, Ronald, of Lock Haven, Diana
Long and her husband, Travis, of Sugar Run and Elisha Zener of Lock
Haven; a son, Calvin B. Zener Jr. of Mingoville; five sisters, Nancy
Crissinger of Flemington, Greta Russo of Pine Creek, Kathy Little of Mill
Hall, Eleanor Myers of Lock Haven and and Ellen Lorson of Nippenose; two
brothers, Kenneth M. Zener Jr. of Lock Haven and Gilbert Zener of Lock
Haven; 18 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister,
Patricia Lachat.
Funeral services will be Thursday, Oct. 15, 2003 at 11 a.m. in the
Donald G. Walker Funeral Home Inc., 231 High St., Flemington, with the
Rev. Nancy Kuhns officiating. Burial will be in Rest Haven Memorial Park,
Lock Haven. Friends will be received in the funeral home Wednesday
evening from 6 to 8 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to St. John’s
United Church of Christ, Narrows Road, Tylersville, Pa. 17773.
