Have recently found my g-grandfather, Gabriel Straka, living with his brother John in Paint Twp. in 1900. My question is this: They have a sister, age 19, living in the household and her occupation is listed at "miner". Is this correct? Did women work in the mines? Also, John's wife has an occupation of laborer. I have a hard time believing that since they have 3 children and 9 boarders living with them. Any comments? Thank you.
