Good Morning All,

In a nutshell:
This seaside town is named after Simon van der Stel, an early governor of the Cape.
It was during a tour of False Bay that he discovered the bay which he also named after himself. Simon's Bay was used for winter anchorage as it was deemed to be a safer option than Table Bay. This proved to be very popular with various trade ships and it was frequented by British, French and Dutch cargo ships on their voyages to the east.
