This is what I have on the STERLEY link.
Thomas STERLEY aged 17, arrived with his parents as members of Damant's
party of 1820 Settlers. The family came from the village of Fakenham in
Thomas STERLEY became Port Elizabeth's Police Constable in 1822. His
salary was £48 per annum and was never increased, but as his duties
increased he was granted assistants and was appointed as jailor in 1828.
In 1829, he married Anne FRANZ, daughter of John Christopher FRANZ of
Baillie's party. Anne FRANZ dies in 1844 and in 1845 Thomas married
Amelia LASSOM. Thomas died in P.E. in 1854. The two small cottages
opposite No. 7 Castle Hill [McCLELAND Parsonage House] was built to
accommodate his family.
STERLEY, Thomas, b. 1766 arrived 1820 from England. m. Anne MOORCROFT,
Children: Thomas, 17; John, 15; William, 3; 1 and 3 days.
