Hi Folks

Please join me in welcoming Karin Serfontein to the List. Hope you going
to be very happy with us. Here is a snippet of news from an Eastern Cape
Newspaper, which I hope makes you feel right at home.

Herald, 6 May 2005
Only feathers from Oudtshoorn will do for Miss SA
by Athane Scholtz
Garden Route Reporter

Miss South Africa will be dressed in feathers - provided by the world's
leading ostrich feather producer, the Klein Karoo Group of Oudtshoorn -
at this year's Miss Universe pageant in Thailand. The gala dress and a
special gift that Claudia HENKEL, 21, will present for a charity auction
at the pageant were unveiled at Sun City yesterday.

The dress - especially designed to favour HENKEL's gorgeous legs and
imposing figure as the second-tallest contestant in this year's
competition - is a combination of feathers, silk and beads. Designed by
the students of Johannesburg-based GFD Design Emporium, the costume
includes a black and white feather-covered ultra-short Zulu skirt and
beaded top. Her headdress is an arrangement of ostrich wing plumes and
her blue silk coat has a 12-layer feather boa as collar.

It is the second year in a row that Klein Karoo Group has provided
ostrich products for the Miss Universe pageant dress. Last year ostrich
leather was used to clothe South Africa's most beautiful woman.

Klein Karoo spokesman, Jan GREYLING said the corporation was proud that
it had been invited twice in as many years to provide for the gala dress
and national gift. "Our ostrich products are gifts from nature, with
which the gorgeous Claudia can definitely put
her best foot forward."

Best wishes
Becky
