Hi Paxie

No it was the son Thomas. Thomas Henry EASTLAND brother of Celia Jane.
Leanne can perhaps contribute more on this one. I think this initially came
from the Rinken De Wet CD and the source of the marriage to Ann LEACH
(Amelia) is an 1820 Paf file, but if one looks at the ages and dates of
marriage she couldn't have married Thomas EASTLAND. I also have not found
proof of the marriage. So today I did a bit of searching on my system to see
whether I could find anything else on Thomas Jnr and found the marriage of
Thomas Henry EASTLAND to Susannah MARSH on 12 Dec 1831 (Entry 291 of the St.
George's Anglican Church Register). Witnesses were G EASTLAND, Celia Jane
HILL and J H DIXON and minister was Rev William Carlisle. I am assuming that
this is the same Thomas we are talking about who supposedly married Ann
LEACH. The death of Thomas (Jnr) is given on the Rinken De Wet CD as 1848.
However, I now question this as there was a Thomas EASTLAND who was killed
during the 8th Frontier War during the period 1850-1853 which Becky kindly
posted. Is this the same Thomas or his father?? Anyone know when Thomas Snr
died? I know his brother James was killed on 28 Dec 1851 near Katberg during
the 8th Frontier War.

Also found a sister to these two that I didn't have previously. Thomas and
Sarah had another daughter named Matilda Ann born 21 Nov 1821 bapt 24 Feb
1822 in the Wesleyan Church, Salem and Albany Circuit.

Does anyone know whether George EASTLAND, another sibling, was actually
George Valentine EASTLAND who was married to Margaret Machal or Maachal
Margarieten?? I also have a Mary EASTLAND who was married to John FILMER
that I cannot place.

Take care
Tessa
