Have just visited the Mitchell Library in Sydney. They hold copies of "The
Gentleman's Magazine" in their Special Collections.
Perhaps this is closer to home for you.
Regards,
Marie Head.

The Bodleian is indeed in Oxford but not in Oxford,
London.
There is also a complete run of the Gentleman's
Magazine at the Society of Genealogists library in
London on open shelves, and probably at other
libraries as well. They even have 1731-1907 in Cardiff
Central Library but not on open shelves, and the
powers that be have decided to knock down a fifteen
year old 'new' library in favour of a shopping mall
and an even newer library that hasn't been built yet,
so everything is in a temporary home and pretty
inaccessible. [Meanwhile the lovely 'old' library is
still going strong as a listed building and arts
centre - but sadly no books!!]
If you have no luck then contact me privately and I'll
put it on my 'to do' list next time I'm at the SOG,
but this may not be for a few months as I was in
central London a couple of weeks back and the next
trip to London is earmarked for finishing off the
settler correspondence at Kew. Either that or I may be
able to track down where the Cardiff copy is being
stored.

Hello,
I would like to obtain details of a couple of lines
about my ancestor
from Page 436 Volume 18 for July 1842 for the
"Gentleman's Magazine"
I have recently learnt that the Bodleian Library in
Broad Street Oxford
holds a copy of the Gentleman's Magazine.
I was wondering if a list member maybe visits this
library while doing
their Family Research and could maybe have a quick
peek at what is
there.
Hoping for maybe just a little bit of luck.
