Hi Rob, I've been doing quite a lot of research on British web sites, and
the 2 most helpful were
www.ancestry.co.uk and
www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk

The first one gives you a 14day free trial, and has information for Britain,
Ireland, USA etc etc. The 2nd one is very informative but one has to buy
credits, and deals strictly with Scotland.
