Bester, accidentally shot when natives attacked the farm.
EARNSHAW, Harry Popplewell, Trooper Umtali Rifles, October 19, 1896, Gatzi's Kraal;
shot himself in action.
GORDON, George, Lieutenant and Adjutant, Umtali Rifles, September 29, 1896, near
Headlands; revolver accident
JENKINS, Henry, Trooper Umtali Rifles, August 4, 1896, Umtali; revolver accident
PAYNE, John William, Trooper B.S.A.P., accidentally shot at Mazoe, Fort Alderson,
died at Salisbury Hospital, June 16, 1897.
TENNANT, Robert, Hospital-Sergeant B.S.A.P., fell off a rock and killed at Hartley,
July 26, 1897.
