Can anyone tell me whether 1 Cambridge Road was in Port Elizabeth, or in
Queenstown. Also, if anyone has some kind of city directory, is there any
way to tell who resided at that address?

There is a Cambridge Road in Queenstown.

There was hardly any embalming or refrigeration in in 1944 so it is a
pretty good bet that if a person died in Queenstown or Port Elizabeth in
October they were buried promptly due to the heat at that time of the year.
A road trip from Queenstown to Port Elizabeth was 7 hours in those days and
a train journey much longer. Obviously, it follows that the chances are
pretty good that if she was being buried in Queenstown, she died here too.

Monday is a public holiday in Queenstown so I will not be able to examine
the cemetery records. I will give it my best shot on Tuesday and contact
you with any info that I am able to find. In the mean time, Happy new year
to you and your family.
