BIRTHS.
LONG. – On April 14th, in Cape Town, to the wife of Major W.R. LONG (nee Margaret HOWELL), a Daughter.
McLEAN. – To Peggy (nee GREER), wife of Cpl. McLEAN (R.A.F.), a bonny Daughter at Provincial Hospital, on 17th April.
PAYNE. - To Mr and Mrs F. PAYNE, a Daughter, on 15th April, at the Stoneham Maternity Home.
POWELL. – To Mr and Mrs F.W. POWELL, a Daughter, at Stoneham Maternity Home, on the 17th inst.
VAN DEVENTER. – To Sylvia (nee FERREIRA) and Ian (up North S.A.A.F.), a bonny son, on the 12th inst.
WORRALL. – To Mr and Mrs W.J. WORRALL, a Daughter, on the 17th inst., at the Provincial Hospital.
ENGAGEMENTS.
SEGALL – SCHLOSBERG. The engagement is announced of Myra, daughter of Mr and Mrs P. SEGALL, of Middleburg, Cape, To Sgt Max SCHLOSBERG, younger son of Mrs Ada SCHLOSBERG and the late Robert SCHLOSBERG, of Johannesburg.
MARRIED.
PEERS – BARKLEY. Married at The HILL Presbyterian Church, Port Elizabeth, on the 17th April, daughter of the late Mr and Mrs Andrew BARKLEY, of Port Elizabeth, to Douglas, son of Mrs and the late Mr C.E. PEERS of Cape Town.
PERRIDGE – PHILIP. The marriage of Zoe, third daughter of Mr and Mrs Ross T. PHILIP of 6 Eastbourne Road, to Alan Frank, second son of Major and Mrs Frank PERRIDGE of Newton Park, took place on 14th April.
SILVER WEDDING.
BOWLES – PETERSON. On the 18th April, 1920, at St Phillip’s Church, Port Elizabeth, by the Rev. C. WATHEN, James BOWLES to Rose PETERSON. Present address: 32 Sutton Road, Sidwell.
DEATHS.
CLARKE. – Passed away peacefully at the Provincial Hospital, on the 17th April, 1945, Florence Jane, relic of the late William CLARKE of Buffelsfontein. Service in St Saviours Church, to-day (Wednesday) at 4 o’clock, thence the funeral will proceed to the South End Cemetery,
DIESEL. - Passed away after a long illness, at 16 Corrington Street, Cradock, on the 17th April, 1945, Amelia Ida (Emily) beloved wife of Gordon and mother of Marge and Ted (P.O.W,), at the age of 58.
GARDNER. – Passed peacefully away on Sunday, 15th April, Robert Aitken, father of Isobel GARDNER and Jean MENZIES of Durban and Alex GARDNER of Port Elizabeth. Interred South End Cemetery on the 17th inst.
MONK. - Passed peacefully away at the Provincial Hospital, on the 16th April, 1945, Hanna Maria, beloved wife of John MONK, of 10 Loch Street, at the age of 81 years. Service in Jones and Rice Chapel, 43 Russell Road, (Wednesday) at 2.45 o’clock, thence the funeral will proceed to North End Cemetery.
PRETORIUS. - Passed peacefully away at the Provincial Hospital on the 16th April, 1945, Hendrik Lodewyk, beloved husband of Johanna Meiring PRETORIUS and father of Ruth, Hendrik, Johan and Lin. (late of South African Railways), in his 55th year. Service in the Dutch Reformed Church, Campbell Street, this (Wednesday) morning, at 11 o’clock, thence the funeral will proceed to the South End Cemetery.
RADLOFF. – Passed away peacefully at Johannesburg on the 4th instant, Beatrice, beloved wife of E.C. RADLOFF and mother of Leonard (6th Armoured Division) and Beryl.
ROLL OF HONOUR.
VAN DYK. – Lieut. Leslie Lionel, wounded 24th March, passed away 13th April, 1945, on active service in Italy. (S.A.A.F.).
WOUNDED.
NORMAN. – Pte. Jack NORMAN, I.L.H. Kim Regt., son of Mr and Mrs L NORMAN, of Port Elizabeth, who has been injured in battle area in Italy.
NORTON. - New has just been received that L/Corporal S.J. NORTON (Ike) has been wounded in the Bari explosion on the 9th April.

KRUGER. - In memory of my beloved husband and our father, who passed away 18th April, 1942.
MILLER. - In memory of Maria Olive who died on 18th April, 1944. Remembered by family.
