Hi Becky,
Regarding James Harding at West Bank Cemetery, there
is 99% certainty (don't believe 100% ever possible), he is the
James Rackliffe HARDING as per death notice Ref 6/9/521 1213
in Cape Archives and transcribed below.

While her death notice says father was
a George King there seems a likelyhood this
is incorrect especially if mother was Mary ?
Possibly her parents could be cleared up
by checking on entry 539 Commemoration Methodist
Church, Grahamstown that maybe I have somewhere
or will need to do a list search of old transcriptions
on this list. Anyway this entry gives
born 17 March 1835, baptised 31 May 1835.
I have a note that mother was Mary (nee KEIGHTLY)
and father Henry KING, a shoemaker.
The James Rackliffe story really got a boost after discovering
a much under researched assisted passage scheme involving
at least one ship the "Collingwood" that sailed from Portsmouth
to arrive November 1850 at Port Elizabeth, Cape Colony with
immigrants largely from Wiltshire. James Rackliffe HARDING
(second name his grandmothers maiden surname) arrived on
that ship along with his parents James HARDING (another
example of HARDING intrinsic predisposition in naming
sons with at least one James, drives me batty) and wife
Johanna (nee BAKER). Also his brothers John and Charles
who shortly after arriving, together with both parrents
moved to Estcourt Natal where the parents eventually
were burried (1886 and 1887 respectively). A sister Mary
that was part of the party from Wiltshire married Charles
STRATFORD.
I keep feeling that many who are still battling to
find or confirm possible English or Wilshire ancestors
could have been on the Collingwood or other ships
of that later assisted passage scheme.
By the way James Rackliffe HARDING's
baptism records at Hankerton, Wiltshire, confirms
age at death 74 years 1 month (only about 24 kilometers
from Hankerton to Bristol where he was born). Well,
as I must avoid RSI injuries, must sign off for now.

regards
