Today I discovered an extensive database of his descendants at the LDS in
Parktown; the submitter's edress is invalid!!!
Anyway it has the immigrant as baptised 30 May 1790 in Shaw [Oldham] son of
James & Mary BUCKLEY.
I won't repeat the deeper ancestry, because it falls down at this point.
According to the IGI James WILD m Mary BUCKLEY in 1800 in St. Mary's,
Oldham.
Abraham the settler was given as 30 years old in Jan 1820 on the settler
returns and 65y in 1853 on his death notice [born Lancs.]
I have not seen his 1810 marriage to Ann THORNTON or the three baptisms
listed on the IGI for their kids [Betty in 1811, Abraham in 1812 & Henry in
1819] What happened to Richard b c 1811 or Maria b c 1816 is anybody's
guess.
Using the IGI and limiting possibles to 1787 +/- 5yrs in Oldham and Rochdale
produces 15 potential Abrahams. How one of these has been decided upon
beats me.
Has anyone examined the English records of the KNOWN settler, do they have
anything to say regarding his parentage?
Regards,
Don McArthur.
