Trisha

Many thanks - the record below has filled in a missing date and place for
me. I only had the month and year for Katherine's death and thought the
place might have been Pietermaritzburg as that is where the family mostly
resided. She was born supposedly in Pietermaritzburg in Feb 1858.

One small correction, it should be AKERMAN not ACKERMAN (it was probably
wrong in the paper - this is a common misspelling). Katherine's father was
Sir John William AKERMAN (he played a key role in Pietermaritzburg and Natal
Colony politics from the 1850s until his retirement in 1892). John and his
wife Jane STANTIAL had 4 children but only one survived to adult-hood -
Elizabeth Charlotte AKERMAN who married Thomas Daniel BARRY from Swellendam.

Best wishes
Craig
