Delia Robertson's query regarding the late Peter Philip reminded me of something that some readers might not be aware of.

When Peter passed away a few years ago, he was doing research for his second book on British Residents at the Cape, I think, covering the period 1820 - 1829. Which archival and other sources he managed get through before he died, I do not know, but his cards arranged alphabetically by the resident's name, are at the Cape Archives, Reference No. A2151.

We all know how valuable British Residents is to many researchers and these cards are, although incomplete, a continuation of Peter Philip's work.
