I have records of my Grandfather being English on my Father's Birth
> Certificate. The original is a Cape Colony document, And names my Father as Arthur Ernest Foster Rawson, his Father as Thomas Granville Rawson, born in England.
T.G. Rawson was a Pharmacist, an Agent at Law, whatever that is, and a

Hi Dennis
You may well find that the Freemason's are of some assistance. I have
requested info from them and they have been really helpfull. They will
be able to confirm a membership, and possibly give more accurate dates
and spellings.

If he was Freemason in SA, contact:
Freemason's Hall in JHB (011) 643-3311.
They keep written records of all members practically from inception. The
Chapters are divided by province and you will have to get the relevant
District Secretary's tel/fax number. This is the English Constitution.
It will help if you know the Lodge name and whether he was a Master or
such at any time.

If in the UK you will need to know also whether Irish, Scottish or
British Constitution. For the latter, their snailmail contact address:
The Grand Secretary
Freemason's Hall
Great Queen Street
London
WC2B5AZ

Regret I do not know the Scottish and Irish addresses, but JHB will have
them. Have you tried the internet?

Good Luck!
