HI Peter,

I had the same problem with the Dept. of Home Affairs with trying to receive
a copy of my grandfather's birth cert. I eventually wrote to my South
African High Commission here in Canada (Ottawa), provided them with the
information that I had. They sent me a form to fill out plus I had to pay a
small fee of $11.00 Cdn. and within 2 months I had the cert. I was
specifically looking for my ggrandparents names and that was on my cert.

I would suggest that you contact the South African Embassy in London and put
the request through to them. I would almost quarantee you will have the
info you need within a very short (comparitively) period of time.

Cheers

Jan
