Greetings, my fellow "rooters"
I would be grateful if there are any of you who could have a quick
look in your local directories to see if you can help Matthew in his
search for the Coumbe surname. I have checked Graham's book on
Cornish Immigrants, the 1907 edn. of the S.A. "Who's Who" and the
Cape D.N.'s, without success. The spelling is important, and
variations should be ignored.
Thanks

William ,
Please can you do me a big favour and let me know if there are any Coumbe's
in South Africa. Apparently during the late 1800/1900 century the mines in
Cornwall became exhausted and various members of the Coumbe family emigrated
to other mining companies/countries..
I know that an uncle once had shares in a gold mine in South Africa, and I
just wondered if there was any one still out there . I know that this is a
bit of a tall order, and South Africa may not have it equivalent of voters
or census info on cd rom, but i would be very grateful if you could even
find a coumbe alive today.
best wishes
Matt Coumbe
