Dear mrs. Waldeck,

You may contact the following institutions in Amsterdam and Rotterdam,
though I don't know whether the Koninklijke Nederlandsche Stoomboot
Maatschappij sailed to South Africa mid 1800. Other shipping companies
were/are Hollandsche Lloyd and Oranjelijn, the latter operating ships
with names ending in ...kerk.

The libraries of these shipping museums can be contacted as follows:

Nederlands Scheepvaartmuseum Amsterdam:

e-mail

Maritiem Museum Prins Hendrik (Rotterdam)

e-mail

The archives/record offices in Amsterdam and Rotterdam might have
interesting archive holdings and are accessible by e-mail:

Rotterdam (Gemeentelijke Archiefdienst Rotterdam)

Amsterdam (Gemeente Archief Rotterdam)

I would suggest to contact first the museums for historic info, since my
experience with Rotterdam was excellent.

Sincerely,
