Agatha Blom's Vendu Roll has been featured in "Capensis" 3 of 1996 thanks to the
transcriptive abilities of Marilyn Coetzee.

What you may not be aware of:

(1) Agatha Blom's baptism in published sources (eg De Villiers/Pama & Heese/Lombard) is
incorrect - the original baptismal register has: 20 November 1695 and NOT 21 October 1695

[I descend from her sister Geertruy who married Pieter Booyens - still looking for her
baptism....];

(2) Published sources do not always show her as being the 2nd wife of Hermanus Smuts (my
ancestor) - they were a particularly wealthy couple and there is much archival
documentation available, eg wills, inventories, liquidation & distribution accounts etc;

(3) You may also not be aware of the book "Die Smuts-Familie van die Swartland" by P.J.
Smuts which has interesting details about Hermanus & Agatha;

(4) Agatha Blom's Cape-born mother, Catharina de Beer, has been a 'bone' of contention for
a very long time - anybody out there have any ideas ?
