I am sending this message to you since it is "off topic". I think that the
information would be useful as many of the members of the list must have
Australian connections. Please forward it to the list if you agree.

I have found out from another list that the New South Wales, Australia BMD
Indexes have been made available for searching on line (for free) for a
TRIAL period (unspecified). The periods available are 1788-1905 for births
and 1788-1945 for marriages and deaths. The address is as follows:
