Hi Spencer

I don't have this fellow in my data base yet. I needed to reward myself
the other day, so I drove to GISA at Stellenbosch and bought the whole set,
Volumes one to five, with which I am delighted. I must give credit to Janet
Melville for getting me out of my chair. Please tell me on which page this
fellow appears. There are millions of Louws. I have only one Louw in my data
base: - Hendrik Johannes Spamer married Anna Elizabeth Louw in Ceres . He
was born C August 1872 and she died May 1931. Had events turned out
differently in my romantic youth I could have had all these Louws as
ancestors to my children! I do have a Jan Carel Willem Spamer but he was
christened 12/12/1885 see Indeks van doop register at KAB 1882 to 1888. I
have no family linkages for him.

Btw. I forgot to ask Leon Endeman whether there is any chance that we could
get these books in Gedcom form or at least in some Dbase such as Microsoft
Access or Lotus. As far as I can see there are a lot of Spamers in the first
five volumes but at the moment the only way that I can find them would be
to read meticulously through each page and then enter this into my
Gen.Programme. Generations de Luxe the programme I use come with two CD's
with millions of names which are of course of little use to me ( USA Social
Security Death Index ) I would willingly pay GISA another R1000.00 for CD
access to their data base. Writable CD equipment has become really
affordable. In fact if I remember correctly Janet Melville once told me that
at the University of Port Elizabeth where she works they have data on more
than 400,000 names. I'd love to get my hands on that bit of pudding. Surely
there must be some way that these Gold Mines can be exploited. I , and I am
sure many others would be willing customers. It is a bit like the
S.A.Archives problem. Commercial funding for this kind of delicious hobby is
going to be inevitable. I can't face my neighbour, who abhors genealogy and
loves Golf and tell him that the nation is funding my hobby with their taxes
and not his.

Spencer, I f you give me a bit more detail about which lines you are
researching I may well have information for you. Please remember to send me
the page number in Volume 5.

Regards

Coen Spamer

Subject:SPAMER information

Hello Coen,

I have the following information (ex SA Genealogies Vol 5) in my database:
Jan Carel Willem SPAMER * c1851 x Ceres 7 Sep 1909 Aletta Johanna LOUW * 8
Apr 1876

Do you have this couple in your database? If so, it would be great if you
could send me any information on their descendants.

Thanks in advance.

Regards,
Spencer Williams
