Hi all,

I have looked at this picture and it appears to me to be the "Rand Easter
Show" grounds at Milner Park, Empire Road, Johannesburg.

I have not seen those grounds in over 30 years and was told by a visitor to
Canada that this show is no longer held there, and the ground has been sold.

The area with "Uitspan" on the building, I think was where the farm stock
was displayed. I remember that restaurant block to the right in the
picture, but I think in the '50's the signs were different and the most
disgusting food was served there. I think some company had the concession
to run it!

The shubbery in the background is I think "St. John's Wort". Could someone
in Johannesburg confirm that this blooms in March/April? As I recall that
show was held over the Easter period.
