Subject: Dundee with Jones and BOWMAN graves

Hi all and pleasant New Year
I have just received another christmas present, a photo of an Uncles grave
that had been lost in a brothers attick or somewhere.
In case it is an assistance to someone searching the BOWMAN surname
I decided to mention it on the list. almost behind my uncle Eric Lawrence Jones
headstone was a very large white stone headstone with a highly visible black
engraved words BOWMAN that stands out amongs all other graves. Even enlarging
the electronic file to 1200 dpi and zooming in to the maximum I could not read
the finer writing on the stone. I can send a IPG OR bitmap file to anyone searching
the Bowman name.
I have to say that it is only passed on family history that makes me believe
the cemetary is in Dundee, Natal. The headstone of Uncle Eric Lawrence was
very well designed with the inscription on a raised black heart (against a grainy
light grey stone). He was obviously thought of by his wife Kay (nee Scannel) and
I was able to read and confirm that he died on 17/7/1937 slightly contradicting
earlier verbal information by family.
From the list I believe that cemetary discs are availble for certain cemetaries
and wonder if anyone knows whether the Dundee cemetary has yet been
covered, and how one goes about obtaining them. If anyone has visited he
Dundee cemetary (assuming there is one, or maybe several in the nearby area)
maybe they can confirm that there is a highly visible BOWMAN headstone.
It would help me to be sure that the cemetaryis in fact Dundee.
I would love to hear from anyone researching the SCANNEL surname which
I suspect derives from Ireland, or from anyone having come across the daughter
of Eric and Kay, a Norma Jones.
Below the heart shaped inscription panel on the headstone dedicated (I think
dedicated is the correct description) by his wife Kay was a rectangular raised
black piece with the following that I find romantic or poetic
" MEMORIES ARE A GIFT
NO ONE CAN STEAL
DEATH BREAKS A HEART
NO ONE CAN HEAL"
I had heard Eric was somewhat of a poet, now I know his wife also had
that talent. Maybe however it was quoted from some published work however?

All the best for a improved new millenium
