Hi ! I am doing research on the Louw family - and am consulting the SA Genealogies. Unfortunately being new to this type of research, I don't seem able to understand the lineage.

For example: I know that Dirk Jacobus Louw (g8) on pg 261 - is the correct person. How do I follow who his father, grandfather, etc was ; as well as his children. I know that 'a' his the start - 'b' his children 'c' grandchildren, and so on; but is there a logic to unraveling the rest ?

My apologies for this 'beginner's' question - but I'll get better.
