Hi Listers~
Excuse my ignorance of colonial South African history, but I'm working on
the sole family member to live in South Africa.
Could SKS suggest to me what might have drawn my teenage great great great
aunt Florence to emigrate from London, England to Durban in the 1890's?
I thought perhaps either work as a governess or missionary, although I have
evidence of neither. She married a South African - John D'Arcy Cockerell -
shortly after her arrival, in 1897 when she was 17, and of course it is
likely that she met him in London if he had come there on business.
Any ideas/leads welcome!
Many thanks
