Dear Joan
Point your browser towards
http://familytreemaker.genealogy.com/users/m/i/l/Susan-T-Miller/index.html
This excellent website has most of the descendants of James THURTELL.
Following a sensational murder trial of a cousin John THURTELL (hanged in
1824 and his likeness exhibited in Madame Tussaud's in London), several
family members changed their names to MURRAY. One branch of the family
emigrated to South Africa, giving rise to Walter Everitt MURRAY.
Susan Miller, the author of the site is most helpful.
Speaking of my ancestors, I'd be grateful if anyone with an interest in the
following individuals could contact me if they have not done so already.
Most of the individuals were 1820 Settlers to South Africa; all were
immigrants from the UK to South Africa. I have a reasonable amount of
information already but am always on the lookout for more, and happy to
share what I have.
