Dear Bernie,
I'm sure other more erudite histroians (who might be able to spell erudite!)
will given you more info but in case they don't - WILKINSON, Stephen
jusrttlike my John WILKINSON was a member of the WAITS party.
THe Chronicle of Jeremiah Goldswain ed Una Long (1946) tells of some of the
problems they had with WAITS and how he released many of them in October
1820. I'd love to know where John WILKINSON went to from there but a John
WILKINSON pops up in Graaff-Reinet in 1822 and marries Hester VORSTER.
Trying to prove that John WILKINSON in the WAITS party was actually from
Dartford Kent then he would be my John WILKINSON. The WAITS party is
suppose to be from Buckinghamshire and they boarded the ship in Deptford
Good luck
Derek Pratt
