Francis Tudhope and his family came to Grahamstown from Scotland in 1840 (he was one of the teachers selected by Sir John Herschel to establish government schools in the Colony). His first wife Isabella died and he subsequently married Margaret Nutter (1811-1893) in 1844.
We have a great deal of information about Francis' descendants which we will happily share with anyone who has an interest and we are keen to make contact with any "cousins". Besides the genealogical information - which is being entered into a family tree, we are interested in anecdotal information and anything on the Tudhope family history in South Africa.
We are particularly keen to find out more about Margaret Nutter and her parents and any siblings. We understand that she was a teacher from London but we do not know whether she came to South Africa with her family. Has anyone any information on the Nutter family in South Africa?
Thanks, Ailsa and Andrew Tudhope.
