Hello Mike

I have found the following information for you:

HANDS, Harry born 18/9/1960 in Worcestershire England, arrived 1882, married
Aletta C. daughter of P.A. Myburgh, L.W.V. , Elsenberg, Stellenbosch: 4
children.
one of them was :
b1 Kenneth Chas. Myburgh Hands, born 22/3/1892 married 4/12/1920 Doreen
Green - 2 children
c1 Harry married 3/10/1939 in Pietersburg Phyllis Lucy Morkel (27/2/1930)

Hi Listers,

My name is Mike Yegwart, from Worcestershire, England. My mother's father
was a HANDS. Working today right at the very edge of my tree I have found
that a Harry HANDS, born 18th September 1860 in Kings Norton, then in
Worcestershire, some how gains a knighthood and becomes Sir Harry HANDS
K.B.E.

He marries Aletta Catherine MYBURGH, presumably in South Africa. Aletta is
the daughter Philip A. MYBURGH, M.L.A. This gentleman was the Mayor of Cape
Town 1912-13 and Greater Cape Town 1915-18. He is also Commander of the
Order of Leopold II of Belgium.

Sir Harry and his wife Lady Aletta, who I think has acquired an O.B.E. in
her own right lived at Talana, Claremont, Cape Town.

I'm aware of two cricket playing sons, both for the National Team. They
also seem to be lawyers. The first was Reginald Harry Myburgh HANDS, born
26th July 1888 and dies as a Captain in the South African heavy artillery in
France 20th April 1918. The second son was Philip Albert Myburgh HANDS,
born 18th March 1890 and died 27th April 1951 in Parys, Orange Free State.


Can anybody help me please? I'm after anything and everything regarding
either family - social and local history, genealogy, photographs, etc.
