Humans are 'fickle' and they always will be...

I wince when I see someone say 'I have checked NAAIRS and know ALL that is
there'
NAAIRS is a wonderful resource - but it is humans who type in the HEADINGS
that we search.
Everything we find is a part of what we need to confirm at a later date.
i.e. a 'tool'

My great grandmother was listed on NAAIRS as LE ROUX. When I received a
copy of the file - the name was LE ROES with not a single LE ROUX.
The list of children included a first name Naude - which was wrong - it
should have been Maude.

Then how many people do you know [me included] who never use their official
name?
